She was a sports reporter for some of the biggest media outlets across the nation. She covered football, basketball as well as Grand Slam Tennis for The Washington Post. Nichols, who earned two Emmy Awards during her nine-year stint with ESPN and was featured in some of its most watched programs like NFL Countdown or SportsCenter, changed to ESPN in the year 2004. She also did Monday Night Football coverage as a team reporter was part of her work with the network. Her next assignment was CNN and Turner Sports. Unguarded With Rachel Nichols was the first show she produced and hosted. It was aired on CNN International and CNN. It had over 1 billion viewers across the globe. Nichols was also a reporter on behalf of TNT in NBA broadcasts during the playoffs as well as All-Star broadcasts. In addition to covering for TBS, she also covered broadcasts of golf and baseball as well as the Final Four on CBS. Only the second woman has been selected amongst more than two hundred nominations in the history of 42 years for the award.
